Last Week's Stamping - LOVE

Hi All,
I wanted to share 2 cards with you that I did last week. The images on both cards were given to me by my sweet friend Kathy. I'm fairly new to 6 X 6 cards, but I'm loving them. The images are done SU markers and SU wonder color crayons. I did a reverse mask and sponged with mellow moss and always artichoke. Threw some bits on and there you go.
The coloring on this card is the same as last. I sponged with baha breeze and pacific point. The base is baha breeze textured and the DP is from SU's green tea collection. I then framed with elegant eggplant. Oh yeah, notice the beautifully straight cuts on the sentiment. That's because I did the white piece and the DP piece with nesties. That's right, I bought my first nesties over the weekend. Of course I can't emboss with them yet because I don't have the tan pad,(next week), but that's ok. I can see why these things are addicting. I went around looking at the images I already have stamped out that I could nesty.
Blessings!

Getting Ready for Christmas

My DD heads back to college tomorrow. It's been a wonderful time having her home.....and not just be cause she's been cooking lol! Friday we did just a bit of shopping. None of that crazy early morning running all over type stuff. She loves to decorate for Christmas, so that's what we did this weekend. We have 2 trees, one in the family room and one in the living room.

This is the tree in the family room. The picture was taken as the sun was begining to set and was coming through the front window. I really like how it captured the shadow of the tree and lights on the wall.
This is the one in the livingroom. It has all of the kid's ornaments collected over the years. Of course this ornament has to be my favorite. Keep in mind this beauty is now 20 years old.

And here are our stockings. The two stockings on the left are counted cross stitched. I made them for the 2 younger ones 20 years ago. We don't have a mantle to hang them on so the railing to the upstairs does just fine. Of course the decorating isn't done yet. There's still the garlands to hang in the kitchen, the nativity to display and the garlands and wreath for the front porch.

I haven't done one bit of stamping all weekend. (sigh), but the alternative, (spending time with DD), was definitely the better of the 2.

Blessings!

Ham for Thanksgiving?

No we didn't eat ham, we ate turkey. But this little doll is quite the ham. She is my brother's grandaughter. Lil' Tootsie just loves having her picture taken. That's a soft cast on her hand. She burned it the other day at the babysitter's. She decided she wanted to help with lunch. A trip to the burn unit for debriding and back again next week for the same. Hopefully no more trips to the burn unit after that. A lot depends on how she heals.

My Dad, my brother and his family were here. It was nice because my nephew flew in from Georgia. He's in the army and was able to get some leave. All 3 of our kids were here as well. What a blessing!
My husband prepared the turkey and my daughter, a Culinary Institute of America student, prepared everything else. Everything was delicious! And there's plenty of leftovers. YUMMY!!!! All I had to do was clean the house and set the table. I definitely got the easy end of the deal. And I didn't even have to clean up. DH and DD are doing that as I type. I am SO spoiled!!!
Here's Little Tootsie and her papa, (my brother). Like I said, she's a ham. She would find my camera and bring it to me so I could take her picture. I have several photos of her, but I just had to share these two.
So tomorrow my daughter and I are going to do a bit of shopping, no crazy early bird stuff. And then when we get home we'll decorate for Christmas. She heads back to college on Sunday and wants to decorate before she goes. Who am I to stop her?
Happy Thanksgiving & Blessings!

A couple of new things

So it's been awhile since I've posted any new cards. This one is for our friends, Mark and Linda, who hosted Deby and I when we went to DC for the walk. They are the ones that introduced us to Five Guys burgers and fries. So Deby and I got them a gift card to FG's.

FG's colors are very simple; plain brown paper bags, white cups with red printing. I
used the company's colors scheme for the card.

This set of cards is for my friend,Wendy Sue. Her name was drawn from the list of sponsors from my walk. I used SU's urban garden dp, gray taffeta ribbon, kiwi kiss, basic gray papers. I also cuttlebugged and used some of the new filigree brads.

This card was done for a friend who needed a
wedding card. Extremely simple. I really like
the textured paper and the little rhinestone
in the corner.

Well, dinner's ready so I'm off to eat.
Blessings!

Where God Leads Us

Who hasn't wondered what God has planned for us. I learned a long time ago that it's best to listen and be obedient, because he always manages to get us where he wants us. We can be obedient, and go the best route, (which may not always be easy). Or we can run away from him.

It was like that when God chose my DH for me 28 years ago. I met DH at a wedding. We went on a couple of dates, but I got scared and blew him off. I wasn't use to a guy paying such attention to me. Anway, fast forward 9 months. Out of the blue DH shows up in my mind....I hadn't thought about him since forever, but there he was in my mind. After a couple of coincidences,(like who really believes in those?), I contacted him. 2 months later we were engaed and 13 months later we were married.

Where am I going with all of this? Well, about 18 months ago, a coworker asked me if I ever thought of selling my cards at craft shows. Another co-worker, who has her own jewelry business has been after me to start a business. Several since....and a lot more recently have made comments that have gotten me to seriously think about starting up a business. After talking with my daughter yesterday, I decided that I was going to move ahead with this.

So where do I go from here? Craft shows, sell on-line, or put my cards in various small gift shops in the area? Well, today, God showed me which direction he wanted me to go in. One of my good friends from church has her own little gift and craft supply store. Today I helped her do a card making class at a local church. We were talking afterwards, and she offered me a business proposition. She asked me if I would design handmade card sets for her. She has such vision for her business and I'm honored that she would consider me to be part of that vision.

So, I'm going on a new adventure and I'm excited about it. If it's one thing I've learned, it's to Listen and obey. Nothing but blessings come to those who do.

Blessings!
