Today's SCS Challenge

Today's challenge at Splitcoaststampers was to make a Christmas card with a critter on it. And since I just received this stamp set in the mail yesterday from Clear Artistic Stamps, I had to use it. Now, I'm not a cat fan......probably because my Grandma's siamese scratched the side of my face when I was 2......but I thought this little guy was just adorable.
I've been awake since 2:30 this morning. LAter this morning,(at a decent hour), my friend Deby came over so we could make our team shirts for our 60 mile walk next weekend in DC.....raising money for breast cancer research. Anyway, I finally was able to catch a couple of winks earlier this afternoon. So I've caught my second wind and am ready to stamp again.

Totally Blessed!

I have been so blessed this past month! I won some blog candy again! This time it comes from Belinda at Clear Artistic Stamps http://www.belindalandtroop.com/ . Thanks Belinda! These were made from one of her new stamp sets, Joy of the Season. They just came in the mail yesterday. This is my second set of CAS stamps. and I LOVE them!!! They ink up so nice and the images are so clear!

The little one is a 3x3 that can be used as a gift tag or Christmas ornament. I inked in Versafine black onyx and then used my SU wondercolor crayons and blender pens. I was playing around with the colors. The leaves are first done in always artichoke and then I went over them with handsome hunter

I was awaken at 2:30 this morning by the sounds of a coffee grinder. Our son decided he wanted coffee in the middle of the night. So since I couldn't sleep, I decided to get up and play. Thanks goodness I don't have to work today! So I've made 4 cards and a gift tag this morning. Am I nuts? DH thinks so. lol!

These past few months have been really tough at work. September has had it's moments, but they've been made tolerable by winning blog candy.....4 times! And on top of that, my dear friend from church, Kathy, blessed me last weekend with several images.

Well, my belly is grumbling, so I had better get some breakfast.

Blessings!

Isn't she sweet?

Isn't this card gorgeous! I received it in the mail the other day from Chris http://craftlingscosycorner.blogspot.com/ . Inside were some adorable images: Tildas, Sara Kays and some others. Thank you Chris!
I immediately had to color Tilda and make a card with her.
Tilda is colored with SU markers and wondercolor crayons and a blender pen. I used SU's perfect plum paper and ink, oval punch and eyelets. I cb'd sweet blush paper from PTI. the dotted paper is PTI as well.

I'll be back later with another post. I got some awesome stamps from CAS and I want to share that story as well.

Blessings!

I don't have any, but I just received my first Tilda images in the mail yesterday,(Thanks Chris). Needless to say I'm in love! Tilda was so much fun to color and as soon as I get a chance, I'll post her so you can see the card I made.

Remembering the Caregivers

It's time to thank the care givers of Alzheimer's disease. My great aunt suffered from this disease and now my aunt is as well. This card is for my uncle and 2 cousins who care for her.

If you click on this link,http://myblogbycammie.blogspot.com/2008/09/heart-to-heart-blog-candy.html You'll come to Carolyn's blog. Carolyn has designed a gorgeous stamp set for Gina K Designs calle Whimsical Autumn and all of the proceeds go to Alzheimer's Association.

Companies like My Favorite Things, Gina K Designs and Flourishes, and many many others have generously donated to an amazing blog candy give away. So let's get those cards made to thank those caregivers who deserve our thanks and so much more.

Blessings and more playing

Hi All, This is a card I made early last month...before I had the blog. My friend Deby, an SU Demo, shared some of her new in-colors with us right after they came out. So I took my piece of riding hood red home to play with. I used my dotted swiss CB embossin folder and SU Bothway Blossoms set. I used the large oval punch to cut out the sentiment. I then masked it with a small oval punch cut from a post it note. Heavily sponged the outer rim in summer sun ink. Colored the daisies in with summer sun as well. Other paper used in this is textured white and old olive. Tos on some brads and ribbon and there you go.

I got some good news today at work. I've been approved to do a compressed pay period at work. I will still work the same number of hours in the pay period, but I'll only have to work 9 days instead if 10. My husband and I carpool to work. But because my hours are less than his, I drive 8 miles past my office to drop him off and then drive the 8 miles back to my office. And then do it again in the evening after work. I figured it out and it means we will be driving 260 miles LESS each pay period! Can you say PRAISE GOD!!!!!! How does this work you ask? Well, becaus I'll be working longer hours, he will drop me off on his way to work and then pick me up in the afternoons. That's 16 miles a day and 100 miles the 1 day I don't work. Hubby will be working from home that day.

Another way that this is a blessing is that I can schedule all dr. appoinments on my "pass" day so I won't have to sick leave to go to the dr. AND we will get to sleep in an extra half hour in the morning! Woohoo!!!!

This new schedule starts tomorrow. I am so happy that God has provided some relief for our car and our wallets. :-)

A snowy birthday

So here's another card I made over the weekend. A co-worker of mine wanted a snowman birthday card for her son who turns 40 in November. Proceeds from this sale goes to Breast Cancer Research.

I used a pattern paper I found at Micheal's. Everything else is stamping up. It's Snow Time stamp set, bravo burgandy, always artichole and natural ivory cardstock. Oh and some watercolor paper I found at Joanne's. I used my SU markers and blender pens to color the images.

It's been a strange day here. We had a nasty wind storm come through last night. Remnants of hurricane ike. Tree branches all over the place. We had to clean the neighbor's fallen bracnes from our drive before we could leave for work this morning. We lost power during the night. Thankfully it came back on shortly before we got home tonight. We are very fortunate that our power came back on so soon. We heard on the news that there are some homes that may not get the power back on until late Wednesday.

Blessings!

Just having some fun

So I was playing around yesterday and decided to pull out a stamp set I haven't used in a long time. It was a SU hostess set a couple of years back. I got out the watercolor pencils and crayons and started to have at it. I wanted the balls of yarn to be a bit darker, so I used my SU markers on them.
You know what I love about paper crafting? I love that if you make a boo boo on your card, you can usually cover it.....which I did on one of these cards, but I'm not telling which one, or where the boo boo is.
So tomorrow starts another work week, (sigh). Oh well, I guess I better go clean up my craft area.
Blessings!

My first Bellas!

I was so blessed by my friend Kim when she gave some Bella images. So here are my firsts.
I just love this image. I used the new SU in color pacific point. I colored the car in with it using a blender pen. Still need to work on my technique. The DP is SU also. The sentiment came from a fiskars stamp set.
I have to admit I was a bit intimidated at first. I was afraid I'd mess up on my coloring. I thinkI did pretty good. Of course there was a slight boo boo, but you can't tell because I hid it with the sentiment. I used SU's ruby red, cameo coral, old olive and PTI DP and ribbon.
Blessings!

So Blessed!

My friend Kim had a sketch challenge last month on her blog. http://frogoffaith.blogspot.com/ She gave away two prizes. One to her SBS #9 and one to her friends. And I won! Here's all the goodies. There was so much that it wouldn't fit in 1 photo. Can you say BLESSED!!!!!

Stickers, embellishments, an eraser, a circle grid thingy for making dots, vellum sayings,( on love and romance, ooh la la ;-) ) And bella images!!!!!! yippeeeeee!!! And there was also a Paper & Crafts magazine and Stampin'Up STAMPS!!!! I've already cut and mounted the stamps. They are still ink free, but that's because I was making my son's birthday card tonight.

The laptop was down again, but DH got it up and running today. How ever did he do that while watching the Buffalo Bills football game? DH is a MAJOR Bills fan, and has been ever since he was a child. My guess is that he fixed it during commercials.
Well, it's getting late, well not too terribly late, but I am extremely tired. My friend, Deby, and I did a 13 mile training walk this afternoon after church.
Good night all, and be blessed!

New stamps and paper

I just received my latest batch of goodies, so of course I had to play. I used the threading waters punch that was suggested by one of my SBS's.
The stamps, ink and paper are all SU.

Card #1 uses not quite navy and baha breeze paper and baha breese ink

Card #2 uses kiwi kiss, and so saffron DP and
more mustard and kiwi kiss inks

Card #3 uses pink pirouette, kiwi kiss and versafine and
kiwi kiss ink. I also CB'd the white paper with dotted swiss
embossingfolder.

Saturday seems to be my favorite day after Sunday. Usually I get to stay in comfy clothes and stamp. Of course I still have to do laundry throughout the day....and other chores, but I still get to work in quite a bit of stamping. So now it's time to go check out some other blogs.

Blessings!
